VEJA has become a symbol of what modern footwear can be - responsibly made, transparently sourced, and designed to last. One of the world’s leading sustainable sneaker brands, and a favourite here in Australia.
Since 2004, VEJA has redefined what it means to make shoes well. Each pair blends thoughtful design with ethical production, proving that environmental consciousness and everyday style can walk side by side. The name itself means “look” in Portuguese, a reminder to look beyond appearances and see the story behind every sneaker.

Starting at the Source
No compromises. VEJA refuses to choose between design and responsibility. Instead, the brand rebuilt everything from the ground up. From long-term fair trade partnerships to traceable raw materials and timeless silhouettes, every step in the process is intentional.
VEJA’s story begins in the fields of Brazil and Peru, where the brand works directly with organic cotton farmers, some of whom have been partners for over two decades. These small-scale producers grow cotton without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, using natural farming methods that protect soil health and local biodiversity.
By paying farmers fairly and upfront, VEJA creates a transparent supply chain built on trust, not exploitation.
Each VEJA sole contains up to 50% wild Amazonian rubber, tapped by hand from trees that grow naturally in the rainforest. This process helps protect the forest by giving local communities an economic reason to preserve it rather than cut it down.
Did you know? The Amazon is the only place on Earth where rubber trees grow in the wild.
Certified Fair for Life, VEJA’s rubber initiative supports fair wages and safe working conditions, turning every pair into a quiet act of preservation.

Innovative Materials
VEJA doesn’t stop at raw materials. It’s constantly rethinking how sneakers are made, finding creative ways to reuse existing resources.
Take B-Mesh, for example, a lightweight, breathable fabric made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. It’s durable, flexible, and gives waste a second life in a functional form.
Then there’s C.W.L. (Corn Waste Leather), a material developed in Brazil that feels and looks like leather, but comes from renewable sources. Made with 100% organic cotton canvas coated with a blend of corn starch, castor oil, and PU, it offers the same smooth texture and water resistance as traditional leather, without relying on petroleum-based plastics.

Certified for Change
In 2018, VEJA became a certified B Corp, a recognition of its holistic approach to doing business differently. The certification considers everything from production and wages to environmental impact and governance, holding the brand accountable for its choices.
It’s not about perfection - it’s about progress, transparency, and constantly improving the way things are made.
